Kathy Wilson started The Ballet Theatre School in 1970. She and daughter Rachel are the full-time teachers of the school.

 

Kathy’s training includes:

  • Training, National Ballet of Toronto teacher’s training

  • Training in the Syllabus’ for Royal Ballet, Cicchetti, and National Ballet of Canada.

  • Specialized training by internationally renowned N.Y. Neuromuscular Specialist Irene Dowd, in analyzing body types and techniques for maintenance and correction of dancers.

  • Christian Ballet Instruction from Briarwood Ballet, in Alabama.

 

Art docent work includes:

  • Artist in residence, instructing art docents for the public schools or Washington State through G.R.C.C. – Interurban Center for the Arts.

  • Tacoma Museum of Glass

  • Gallery Performers Educational Assembly Program with G.R.C.C.- Interurban Center for the Arts, which reached over 40,000 students.

  • Art docent for various home school groups and public-school districts.

Rachel has been teaching for 24 years, and her experiences include:

 

  • Teachers training by The Ballet Theatre School for all levels, school methodology, syllabus and techniques.

  • Teachers training from the Briarwood Ballet in Alabama.

  • Choreographer for T.B.T.S.

 

Arts: 

Rachel has taught drama for T.B.T.S., trained artists through The Artist Collective, a group in which artists of all art forms learn to reshape their view of their relationship to God and others using their art. She has also worked as a model for various photographers and internationally known painters. Rachel has dedicated her life to the study of art in its many forms and the utilizing of each for their value and relevance to the lives of the viewer and the creator.

 

Performances:

Rachel was a member of The Gallery Green River Community College Interurban Center for the Arts program and has performed with Ballet Jubilee throughout the Puget Sound area serving a wide range of venues.
